This El Duro son has significantly better EPDs than his more famous brother, GMFA Spalding. Beckett has a large frame with very nice confirmation. This a rare opportunity to get a modern rose grey herdsire at a bargain price. We can only use so many herdsires in our program and this male isn't getting enough attention since we switched our focus to breeding for black.

For the uninitiated, El Duro was an own son of 4Peruvian Legacy, out of power dam CPeruvian Valerie. El Duro rapidly established himself as a sire with incredible prepotency, reliably imparting his massive bone, impeccable conformation, excellent coverage, density, fineness and staple length to his crias – not to mention his incredible presence. We love the El Duro line here, because we love the combination of structural perfection without the sacrifice of fleece fineness that his line imparts. Sadly, El Duro was lost prematurely to the alpaca world, so his get are an extremely rare commodity with only 62 registered offspring. We are incredibly pleased to own his only two grey sons standing at stud.

Much as we love El Duro, Beckett's dam, MVF Latte, is a pretty big deal as well. A champion in her own right, she is also the mother of multiple color-champion GMFA Spaulding, owned by A. L. Pacas, who is Beckett's ¾ brother. She is also the dam of futurity champion AML El Duro's Dolce Latte, who is Beckett's full sister. What nearly all of Latte's offspring have in common – aside from their awesome conformation, bone, and fleece – is that most all are various expressions of what I think of as the roan color pattern. Beckett showed as an indefinite dark, while his siblings showed as modern greys, but it is likely the same gene responsible for their coloring.

Beckett himself is an impressive alpaca to behold. He is unabashedly huge, but his proportions are perfect: square and deep-bodied, with an elegant neck and carriage. He boasts some of the most massive circumference of bone I have yet seen on an alpaca, as well as an outstanding body depth and spring of rib. His coverage is fantastic, as he carries his excellent staple length down to his toes. He has retained both his staple length and his fineness well into maturity, while still managing to shear an enormous blanket. We finally got around to getting some objective measurements and his 6th blanket was 5.2 lb with an AFD of 21.6 ... NICE!
